50-year-old female patient returning to the practice following immediate provisional denture insertion with extraction of 22.
For the final phase, as the patient does not have the financial means for implant treatment, it will be decided to opt for a classic combined prosthetic treatment: a bridge from 13 to 23, pontics on 22 and a removable maxillary appliance on a titanium base for the class II edentulousness. The patient prefers to think about mandibular treatment.
We take digital impressions with an intraoral scanner, consisting of a pre-situational scan followed by a scan of the maxilla, taking care to record peripheral coronal preparations, occlusal cleat seats and the mucosal reflection zone opposite edentulous areas.
We'll use the provisional resin prostheses as occlusal bases when recording inter-arch positioning.
After a few discussions with the prosthetist, and thanks to screen-sharing of the model, it was jointly decided to go for a 7-tooth bridge to improve aesthetics and rebalance the smile.
For the second appointment, we will receive the anterior bridge from 13 to 23 in translucent zirconia, as well as the titanium-based removable appliance on the same day.
Fitting will be easier, and the aesthetic and functional result is satisfactory. The patient is delighted, and lets us know it with her smile.
